Are you sometimes finding it frustrating to work with clients who are perfectionistic, too much people-pleasing, overtly image-conscious, very sensitive, secretive, suspicious, distractible, confrontational, or complacent?
What if you could understand their perspective, not because they are difficult, but because they are who they are and respond to life and business through their natural way?
What if you could help them to unlock the positive characteristics associated with exactly those same traits that are frustrating you? Would that not allow you to offer much more productive support?
These questions are covered in the upcoming episode of the IBASA & EPI Webinar Series with Chartered Organisation Development Practitioner Lucille Greeff as a guest.
Guess what, as with your clients, you are also showing up in the world with traits you did not choose, but which are defining how you are likely to engage with your clients. You may see yourself as a good supporter of others because you are rational, generous, pragmatic, expressive, innovative, engaging, versatile, decisive, or reassuring.
These are all traits forming the other side of the coin to the client traits that may be frustrating you. This is why many business support practitioners are turning to personality typing as a tool to understand their clients (and themselves) better so that their support may have a bigger impact.

Luckily for the average business advisor, you do not have to be qualified in psychology to use a good understanding of natural traits. There are many personality typing tools available to familiarise yourself with, or even to complete a short course in. You may have encountered 15 FQ, DISC/Insights, the Enneagram, eScan, Gallup StrengthsFinder, the Maturity Assessments, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ) or the Vitality Test.
These personality typing tools are widely used by business support practitioners to help their clients to understand themselves better, for the practitioner to understand the perspective of their clients better and for the business teams, they work with, to create a better understanding of the contributions each team member brings. And, of course, it also helps business advisors to understand their own natural way and how this may affect their approach to supporting others.
